Government and Local Authority Catering Software

Central and local government is responsible for large elements of catering activity, whether centrally or on a devolved budget basis via Direct Service Organisations. FDH software systems are used in over 100  school meals DSO organisations, with focus on meal numbers and financial data, and as importantly full nutritional analysis.

 

Saffron is flexible in how data is gathered, and while paper rules in some organisations, the more modern way is to give remote sites direct access to a web site for their own recording of meal numbers etc. An alternative means is by voice recognition facilities over a standard, local call rate telephone line. In either case the objective is to keep central admin costs to an absolute minimum. Saffron then manages subsidies, key performance indicators, budgets, hours, weekly results and devolves this back to area and unit management teams. (See case studies ).

 

Lots of other forms of catering run on similarly tight budgets, and common themes, but usually on a smaller number of larger sites. At the other end of the scale, civic and hospitality catering of course operates on somewhat more generous budgets, but the need to achieve targets and work within defined spending levels remains important, and here too the ability of systems to forecast purchasing and stock levels and to accurately report income and cost is every bit as important.
